Brand Profile
Founded in 2000, the Coconino Press takes its name from the county where George Herriman's Krazy Kat, one of the first comic book masterpieces, is set. In its twenty-five years of life, it has brought about a revolution, changing the perception of the graphic novel in our country, christening the greatest Italian names, such as Gipi, Davide Reviati, Manuele Fior, Paolo Bacilieri, publishing masters such as Andrea Pazienza, Massimo Mattioli, Filippo Scòzzari, Guido Buzzelli, Altan, and giving space first to international authors destined to become classics, including Daniel Clowes, Charles Burns, Chris Ware, David Mazzucchelli, Jiro Taniguchi, Kazuo Kamimura, Suehiro Maruo, Manu Larcenet, David B, Christophe Blain, Emmanuel Guibert and others. The result is a catalog that includes over 700 titles: comic book volumes in which the richness of the content is always combined with great attention and care for the book object and for the quality of the printing. Never accommodating, courageous in its choices because it is solid on the legs of the great stories it offers, Coconino continues its journey today by proposing to bring readers what they do not yet expect: comics that expand the grammar of the story, naturally immersed in the most fruitful artistic research of recent years. Since 2022, the publishing house has also organized its own festival: the Coconino Fest, in Ravenna, where once a year for three or four days there are meetings and debates, workshops, musical performances and shows dedicated to the art of comics, as well as a series of exhibitions in collaboration with the MAR Museo d’Arte della Città di Ravenna.
